Amazonia Live

Project

About

Amazonia Live is a social-environmental project initiated by Rock in Rio, aiming to restore millions of trees in the Amazon Rainforest. Launched in 2016, it initially committed to planting one million trees in the headwaters of the Xingu River, in partnership with organizations like Conservation International-Brazil, the Brazilian Biodiversity Fund (Funbio), and the Socio-environmental Institute (ISA). This effort was further enhanced by the Brazilian Ministry of Environment's commitment to restore another million trees in protected areas. Amazonia Live has expanded its goals through partnerships like the Amazon Sustainable Landscapes Project, aiming to restore up to 73 million trees. The project involves public engagement and awareness campaigns, leveraging events like Rock in Rio to promote environmental conservation. By collaborating with global entities like the World Bank and the Global Environment Facility, Amazonia Live contributes significantly to forest restoration and climate regulation in the Amazon region. It emphasizes community involvement and sustainable practices to protect biodiversity and support local economies.
