Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States, was born on August 4, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii. His parents, Barack Obama Sr. from Kenya and Stanley Ann Dunham from Kansas, met while studying at the University of Hawaii. Obama's early life was marked by his mother's remarriage and a period spent in Indonesia before returning to Hawaii to live with his grandparents. He attended Occidental College and later graduated from Columbia University with a degree in political science. In 1988, he enrolled in Harvard Law School, becoming the first African American president of the Harvard Law Review. Obama's political career began in the Illinois State Senate in 1997. He later served as a U.S. Senator from Illinois from 2005 to 2008. Elected as the first African American U.S. President in 2008, Obama's presidency was notable for significant policy achievements, including the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the Paris Climate Agreement.
