The Bernina Express is a renowned scenic train route connecting Chur, Switzerland, to Tirano, Italy. The journey covers 122 kilometers, passing through 55 tunnels and over 196 bridges, including the iconic Landwasser Viaduct and Brusio Spiral Viaduct. The train climbs to an altitude of 2,253 meters at the Bernina Pass, providing panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The Bernina Express is part of the Rhaetian Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage site recognized for its engineering and harmony with nature. The train operates year-round, offering a comfortable journey with large panoramic windows and on-board snacks. While there is no dining car, passengers can enjoy local cuisine during stops. The route is covered by various rail passes, and seat reservations are recommended, especially during peak seasons.
