Carles Puyol is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a central defender for FC Barcelona and the Spain national team. Born on April 13, 1978, in La Pobla de Segur, Spain, Puyol began his youth career at FC Barcelona's youth academy, La Masia. He made his professional debut for the club in 1999 and went on to become a key player, captaining the team to numerous titles, including six La Liga championships and two UEFA Champions League trophies. Throughout his career, Puyol was known for his exceptional leadership, vision, and defensive skills. He was a dominant force in the backline, able to read the game and make crucial interceptions.
