About

Château Smith Haut Lafitte is a renowned Grand Cru Classé winery located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation of Bordeaux. Its history dates back to the 14th century when vines were first planted by the Du Boscq family. The estate was later acquired by George Smith in 1720, who added his name to the property. Over the centuries, it has evolved under various owners, with significant transformations occurring after its purchase by Daniel and Florence Cathiard in 1990. Today, Château Smith Haut Lafitte is celebrated for its commitment to sustainable practices and the production of high-quality red and white wines. The vineyards span 87 hectares, with a focus on Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc for red wines, and Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris, and Semillon for whites. The estate's approach combines traditional techniques with modern technology, emphasizing biodiversity and environmental stewardship. This blend of tradition and innovation has elevated the winery to new heights, producing wines that reflect the unique terroir of Pessac-Léognan.
