Chichibu On The Way is a limited edition single malt Japanese whisky produced by Chichibu Distillery in Saitama, Japan. It is distilled from 100% unpeated malted barley, which is floor malted at the distillery. This traditional method involves spreading soaked barley on concrete floors to promote germination, resulting in deeper, honied, and nutty flavors. The whisky is fermented for 100 hours in Mizunara oak washbacks and double distilled in Forsyths copper pot stills. Aged between 7 to 15 years in a combination of ex-bourbon, chibidaru, hogsheads with Mizunara oak heads, puncheons, and wine casks, Chichibu On The Way offers rich notes of rustic barley, citrus, and stone fruit, with deep vanilla and honey undertones. It is bottled at 54.5% ABV without added coloring or chill filtration. The 2024 edition marks the fourth release in the On The Way series, celebrating Chichibu's commitment to traditional craftsmanship and innovative techniques.
