Corcovado National Park, located on the Osa Peninsula in southwestern Costa Rica, is a vast and diverse tropical rainforest. Spanning 103,290 acres, it is the largest national park in Costa Rica, encompassing about a third of the peninsula. The park is renowned for its incredible biodiversity, hosting over 500 species of trees, 140 species of mammals, and nearly 400 species of birds. Wildlife includes jaguars, sloths, monkeys, and four species of sea turtles. Corcovado offers numerous hiking trails, allowing visitors to explore its rugged terrain and experience the beauty of untouched rainforests and pristine beaches. The park has four ranger stations and requires guides for hiking due to its complex ecosystem. With its unique combination of freshwater and saltwater environments, Corcovado is a haven for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. The best time to visit is from January to April, when rainfall is minimal. Despite its remote location, Corcovado is accessible via Puerto Jimenez or by air to Sirena Ranger Station.
