About

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen (DGNB) is a non-profit organization founded in 2007 in Germany. It is dedicated to promoting sustainable building practices through a comprehensive certification system. The DGNB evaluates buildings based on six main categories: environmental quality, economic quality, sociocultural and functional quality, technical quality, process quality, and site quality. This holistic approach ensures that buildings are assessed on their ecological, economic, and socio-cultural impacts throughout their lifecycle. DGNB certification is recognized internationally and has been adopted in over 35 countries. It offers four levels of certification: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. The system is adaptable to different building types and locations, making it a versatile tool for sustainable construction. DGNB certification not only enhances a building's market value but also provides incentives such as subsidies for sustainable projects. The organization continuously updates its criteria to align with global sustainability standards, ensuring that certified buildings meet high environmental and social standards.
