Diwali

Cultural festival

About

Diwali, also known as Deepavali, is a significant cultural festival celebrated across India and other parts of the world. It symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. The festival is deeply rooted in Hinduism but is also observed by followers of Jainism, Sikhism, and some Buddhist traditions. Diwali is a five-day celebration that typically falls between late October and early November, depending on the lunar calendar. The festivities include lighting diyas (earthen lamps), fireworks, and decorating homes with intricate rangoli designs. Each day of Diwali holds unique significance, such as Dhanteras for cleaning and purchasing gold items, Lakshmi Puja for worshiping the goddess of prosperity, and Bhai Dooj for celebrating sibling bonds. Diwali is a time for family gatherings, feasting, and exchanging gifts, emphasizing unity and the triumph of righteousness over unrighteousness.
