Edwin Valero was a Venezuelan professional boxer known for his undefeated record of 27-0, with all wins by knockout. Born on December 3, 1981, he began boxing at the age of 12 and quickly gained recognition as a formidable amateur. Valero's professional career spanned from 2002 to 2010, during which he held titles in two weight classes: the WBA super featherweight title from 2006 to 2008 and the WBC lightweight title from 2009 to 2010. His aggressive fighting style and exceptional punching power made him a cult sensation in the boxing community. Valero's career was marked by both success and turmoil. He faced legal issues, including a DUI charge and domestic violence allegations, which often overshadowed his achievements in the ring. Despite these challenges, Valero remained a household name in Venezuela and was celebrated for his explosive style. Tragically, his life ended in April 2010 when he took his own life in jail after being arrested for the murder of his wife.
