Espanyol RCD Espanyol, based in Cornellà-El Prat, is a La Liga soccer team that has recently been acquired by Velocity Sport Limited, an English-based group with American shareholders, for €130 million. This acquisition marks a change in ownership from the Rastar Group, led by Chen Yansheng, who had owned the club since 2015. As part of the multi-club ownership model, Espanyol joins Burnley under Velocity Sport Limited's umbrella. Espanyol's new stadium was inaugurated on August 2, 2009, with a match.
