María Eva Duarte de Perón, known as Eva Perón or Evita, was the First Lady of Argentina from 1946 until her death in 1952. Born on May 7, 1919, in Los Toldos, Argentina, she rose from poverty to become a prominent figure in Argentine politics. Her early life was marked by financial struggles after her father abandoned the family. At 15, she moved to Buenos Aires to pursue an acting career, eventually becoming a successful radio actress. Eva Perón was instrumental in advocating for labor rights and women's suffrage. She founded the Eva Perón Foundation, which established numerous hospitals, schools, and charities. She also formed the Female Peronist Party, promoting women's political participation. Despite never holding an official government position, her influence was significant. Her legacy continues to inspire and polarize, with a lasting impact on Argentine politics and culture. Eva Perón died of cancer on July 26, 1952, at the age of 33.
