Film festivalAbout
The Valdivia International Film Festival, or Festival de Cine de Valdivia, is an annual event held in the picturesque city of Valdivia, Chile. Founded in 1993, it celebrates its origins as a cultural milestone, initially tied to the Universidad Austral de Chile's Cine Club. The festival has evolved into a prominent showcase for both Chilean and international cinema, offering a platform for filmmakers to compete and display their work. The festival features competitive categories such as Feature Competition, Youth Feature Competition, and various short film competitions. Its non-competitive program includes retrospectives, avant-garde cinema, and family-oriented films. Awards include the Best Feature Film and Jury Special Awards. The festival takes place from October 13 to 19, 2025, and is known for its unique trophy, the Pudú, symbolizing southern Chile's iconic deer. It serves as a cultural hub, promoting artistic film works both locally and internationally.
