About

Isaac Asimov's Foundation Series is a groundbreaking science fiction epic that explores the rise and fall of interstellar empires through the lens of science and mathematics. The series began as a collection of short stories published between 1942 and 1950, later compiled into three novels: Foundation (1951), Foundation and Empire (1952), and Second Foundation (1953). This trilogy won a special Hugo Award for "Best All-Time Series" in 1966, recognizing its impact on the genre. The series follows mathematician Hari Seldon, who uses psychohistory to predict the fall of the Galactic Empire and a subsequent dark age. Seldon establishes the Foundation to preserve human knowledge and shorten the period of barbarism. Asimov later expanded the series with Foundation's Edge (1982), Foundation and Earth (1986), Prelude to Foundation (1988), and Forward the Foundation (1993). These novels integrate themes from his other works, creating a unified universe that explores societal evolution and adaptation.
