Freddie Roach is a renowned American boxing trainer and former professional boxer. Born on March 5, 1960, in Dedham, Massachusetts, Roach was trained by his father Paul Roach from a young age. He turned pro in 1978, competing primarily as a lightweight and super bantamweight, and retired with a record of 41-13. Roach's career was marked by his ability to take punches, but he eventually retired due to early signs of Parkinson's disease. As a trainer, Roach is celebrated for his work with numerous world champions, including Manny Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto, and Oscar De La Hoya. He transformed Pacquiao into a versatile fighter by enhancing his defensive techniques and developing his right-hand punch. Roach owns the Wild Card Boxing Club in Los Angeles and has been named Trainer of the Year multiple times by the Boxing Writers Association of America. Despite battling Parkinson's, Roach remains a prominent figure in boxing, continuing to train fighters with his signature dedication and expertise.
