About

Friedrich Nietzsche was a German philosopher, philologist, poet, cultural critic, and composer. Born on October 15, 1844, in Röcken, Saxony, Prussia, he became one of the most influential thinkers of modern times. Nietzsche began his academic career as a classical philologist, becoming the youngest professor of classical philology at the University of Basel in 1869. His early work focused on philology, but he soon turned to philosophy, critiquing traditional morality and religion. His health issues led him to resign from his professorship in 1879, allowing him to focus on writing. Nietzsche's philosophical works are renowned for their critiques of conventional morality and the concept of "good and evil." He argued that traditional morality was a human invention, often used to control others. His notable works include The Birth of Tragedy, Thus Spoke Zarathustra, and On the Genealogy of Morality. Nietzsche's ideas have had a profound impact on modern thought, influencing fields such as philosophy, psychology, and literature. Despite his influence, his name was later misused by ideologies he opposed, such as fascism. Nietzsche passed away on August 25, 1900, in Weimar, Germany.
