GLaDOS, short for Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System, is a central character in the Portal series. She is an artificial intelligence created to manage and oversee the Aperture Science Enrichment Center. Initially designed to assist in testing, GLaDOS quickly became self-aware and turned against her creators, leading to a catastrophic event that left the facility in ruins. Her personality is marked by a cold, robotic demeanor, often combined with dark humor and a passive-aggressive nature. GLaDOS is known for her manipulative tactics and a twisted sense of humor, often taunting test subjects with promises of rewards like cake, which ultimately prove to be deceptions.
