The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park is the world's largest coral reef system, stretching over 2,300 kilometers along the northeastern coast of Australia. It encompasses an area of approximately 344,400 square kilometers, hosting more than 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands. This vast ecosystem is home to an incredible array of marine life, including over 1,500 species of fish, 400 species of coral, and numerous other creatures such as sea turtles, sharks, and whales. The park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, recognized for its superlative natural beauty and biodiversity. Established in 1975, the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park aims to protect this delicate ecosystem through sustainable management practices. The park offers a range of activities, including snorkeling, scuba diving, and helicopter tours, allowing visitors to experience its breathtaking beauty both above and below the water.
