Gregg Popovich is a renowned American basketball coach, best known for his successful tenure as the head coach of the San Antonio Spurs. Born on January 28, 1949, in East Chicago, Indiana, Popovich is of Serbian and Croatian descent. He attended the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he played basketball and later served in the U.S. Air Force. His coaching career began as an assistant at the Air Force Academy and progressed through roles at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges and the University of Kansas.
