Location

About

Hornsea Wind Farm is a significant offshore wind farm located in the North Sea, approximately 120 km off the east coast of England. It is part of a larger development zone known as the Hornsea Zone, which has a total area of 4,730 square kilometers. The wind farm is developed by Ørsted and is split into several phases, including Hornsea One and Hornsea Two, which are already operational. Hornsea One, with a capacity of 1,218 MW, was the largest offshore wind farm in the world upon its completion, while Hornsea Two, with a capacity of 1,386 MW, surpassed it as the largest. The Hornsea Wind Farm utilizes advanced technology, featuring Siemens Gamesa turbines. Hornsea One uses 174 turbines rated at 7 MW each, while Hornsea Two employs 165 turbines rated at 8.4 MW each. The wind farm is designed to provide renewable energy to millions of homes in the UK. Future phases, such as Hornsea Three and Four, are planned to further increase the total capacity to up to 6 GW. The project plays a crucial role in the UK's renewable energy sector, contributing to a sustainable energy supply chain.
