Jigsaw
Movie characterAbout
John Kramer, known as Jigsaw, is a fictional character and the primary antagonist of the Saw franchise. He is a former civil engineer and architect who becomes a serial killer after being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. Following a failed suicide attempt, Jigsaw develops a twisted philosophy where he believes people must prove their will to live by facing his deadly traps. These tests are designed to force victims to confront their past mistakes and appreciate life, often through brutal self-mutilation or moral dilemmas. Jigsaw's modus operandi involves designing elaborate and symbolic death traps that reflect the flaws he perceives in his victims. Despite claiming he doesn't kill directly, Jigsaw is responsible for numerous deaths through his games. His actions are motivated by a desire to teach people the value of life, though his methods are widely criticized as unfair and hypocritical. Jigsaw's character is portrayed by Tobin Bell throughout the series, except in Spiral, where he is only mentioned. His legacy continues to influence the Saw franchise, even after his death, through his apprentices and the impact of his games on those who survive them.
