Conservation projectAbout
The Kasigau Wildlife Corridor Project is a pioneering conservation initiative located between Tsavo East and West National Parks in Kenya. It protects over 200,000 hectares of dryland forest, serving as a vital migration route for numerous wildlife species, including elephants, lions, and cheetahs. The project addresses human-wildlife conflict by providing alternative livelihoods to local communities through job creation and sustainable development activities. The project benefits over 115,000 community members by investing in education, healthcare, and infrastructure. It has created hundreds of jobs and supports eco-friendly enterprises. The Kasigau Corridor is recognized for its biodiversity, hosting over 50 large mammal species and 300 bird species. It has been awarded Gold level status by the Community and Biodiversity Standard for its exceptional climate and biodiversity benefits. The project's success lies in its community-led approach, ensuring long-term conservation and sustainable development in the region.
