He initially played football but soon transitioned to running, becoming one of the greatest distance runners in history. Bekele's career highlights include winning three Olympic gold medals and 11 World Cross-Country titles. He holds multiple world records in the 5,000m and 10,000m races, showcasing his dominance on the track. Bekele's achievements extend beyond track events; he has also excelled in marathons. He won the Paris Marathon in 2014 with a debut time of 2:05:04 and the Berlin Marathon in 2016 and 2019. His personal best in the marathon is 2:01:41, set in 2019. Bekele is the first athlete to win Olympic, World Outdoor, World Indoor, and World Cross Country titles.
