La Equidad

La Equidad La Equidad, also known as Club Deportivo La Equidad, is a professional Colombian football team based in Bogotá. Founded in 1982, the club initially participated in amateur tournaments before becoming a professional side in 2003. It joined the Colombian second-tier league, Categoría Primera B, and eventually earned promotion to the top-flight Categoría Primera A in 2006. La Equidad is nicknamed "Aseguradores" (Insurers) due to its founding by Seguros La Equidad. The team plays its home matches at the Estadio Metropolitano de Techo, which has a capacity of 10,000 spectators. La Equidad has shown consistent performances in domestic competitions, finishing as runners-up in Categoría Primera A on several occasions. The club's most notable achievement was winning the Copa Colombia in 2008. Recently, La Equidad was acquired by an American consortium led by Al Tylis and Sam Porter, with notable investors including Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney, and Eva Longoria. The team aims to strengthen its position in Colombian football under new ownership. Despite its small stadium capacity, La Equidad remains a significant presence in Colombian football, competing in international tournaments like the Copa Sudamericana.
