About

La Garagista Farm and Winery is located in Vermont's Green Mountains, specifically on Mount Hunger near the Chateauguay Forest. Founded by Deirdre Heekin and Caleb Barber, the winery began operations in 2010, building on their experience with a farm-to-table restaurant, Osteria Pane e Salute. La Garagista is renowned for its use of hybrid grape varieties, such as La Crescent, Marquette, and Frontenac Gris, which are well-suited to Vermont's cold climate. These grapes are cultivated using biodynamic practices, emphasizing natural processes and minimal intervention. The winery produces a range of wines, including still and sparkling varieties, often inspired by European styles but uniquely expressive of Vermont's terroir. Their wines are celebrated for their complexity and expressiveness, making them highly sought after. La Garagista also explores cofermentations and ciders, fostering a diverse agricultural landscape that includes vegetables, fruits, and herbs. The winery's approach reflects a commitment to regenerative agriculture and creative storytelling through its wines and ciders.
