Lima Joven Acciona

Program

About

Lima Joven Acciona is a municipal program in Lima, Peru, designed to enhance youth participation in local governance. It was initiated in response to the lack of active citizen engagement among young people in the city. The program focuses on four strategic pillars: educational and training strategies, empowerment, social action, and the creation of participatory spaces. These strategies aim to develop leadership, organizational, and public speaking skills among young people, enabling them to express their opinions and propose solutions to community problems. The program has established several institutional spaces for youth participation, including the Lima Young Leaders Network and the Metropolitan Network for Youth Organizations. It has trained over 3,000 young people and identified 300 youth organizations, fostering 108 community projects. Lima Joven Acciona promotes inclusivity and intersectional engagement, ensuring diverse perspectives are integrated into urban development policies. The program's success is supported by extensive resource mobilization and collaboration with municipal bodies, NGOs, and private sector partners.
