Logan's Run
MovieAbout
"Logan's Run" is a 1976 science fiction film set in a dystopian future where society appears utopian at first glance. The story takes place in 2274, where humans live in a domed city with a hedonistic lifestyle, free from work and filled with pleasure. However, this utopia comes with a deadly condition: no one is allowed to live past the age of 30. Those who attempt to escape this fate are called "Runners," and it is the duty of the "Sandmen" to hunt them down. The film follows Logan 5, a Sandman who becomes a Runner himself after being tasked with infiltrating a supposed sanctuary outside the city. Logan's journey, accompanied by Jessica 6, reveals the dark truth behind their society. They encounter various obstacles, including a robot named Box and another Sandman, Francis. Once outside, they discover a desolate yet beautiful world and meet an elderly man, which challenges their understanding of life and aging. The film explores themes of youth worship, hedonism, and the dangers of a controlled society. It critiques the notion of a perfect world where youth is valued above all else, leading to a dramatic conclusion that exposes the truth about their society and its unsustainable practices.
