Morgan Spurlock was a renowned American documentary filmmaker, writer, and television producer. Born on November 7, 1970, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, he gained prominence with his groundbreaking documentary Super Size Me (2004), which explored the health effects of consuming fast food. This film earned him an Academy Award nomination and catapulted him into the spotlight. Spurlock co-founded the production company Warrior Poets in 2004, which produced many of his notable works. Spurlock's career spanned a wide range of projects, including The Greatest Movie Ever Sold (2011), which examined product placement in films, and Morgan Spurlock Inside Man (2013-2016), a CNN series where he explored various social issues. He also directed One Direction: This Is Us (2013) and Super Size Me 2: Holy Chicken! (2017). Throughout his career, Spurlock was known for his innovative storytelling and commitment to social justice. He passed away on May 23, 2024, at the age of 53 due to cancer complications.
