N-Type Cells

Technology

About

N-Type solar cells represent a significant advancement in solar technology, offering higher efficiency compared to traditional P-type cells. They utilize silicon doped with phosphorus or arsenic, which reduces susceptibility to losses caused by boron-oxygen defects present in P-type cells. This results in improved stability and efficiency over time. N-Type cells are particularly effective in high-temperature environments and exhibit lower light-induced degradation (LID), ensuring consistent performance. Key designs such as Heterojunction (HJT), Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon), and Interdigitated Back Contact (IBC) further enhance the efficiency of N-Type cells. HJT offers a simpler process flow and potential for higher efficiencies, while TOPCon benefits from compatibility with existing manufacturing lines, reducing costs. IBC designs also contribute to improved efficiency and are well-suited for bifacial technology, capturing sunlight from both sides of the panel. These technologies collectively position N-Type cells as a leading choice for renewable energy systems.
