Narendra Damodardas Modi is the 14th and current Prime Minister of India, serving since 2014. Born on September 17, 1950, in Vadnagar, Gujarat, India, Modi grew up in a humble background, with his father being a tea vendor. He earned a degree in Commerce from the University of Delhi and later earned a Master's degree in Political Science from Gujarat University. Modi's early career in politics began as a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a right-wing Hindu nationalist volunteer organization, where he rose through the ranks to become the General Secretary of the organization. Modi's political career took off when he became the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001, a position he held for three consecutive terms until 2014. During his tenure, Gujarat experienced significant economic growth and development, earning the state the reputation of being one of the most business-friendly states in India. Modi's leadership style, which emphasizes good governance, economic development, and social welfare, has been widely praised. As Prime Minister, Modi has implemented several key policies, including the demonetization of high-denomination currency notes and the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST). His foreign policy initiatives, such as the "Act East" policy, have also been notable.
