Panama, officially the Republic of Panama, is a Central American country renowned for its strategic location on the Isthmus of Panama. It connects North and South America, forming a vital biological corridor that facilitates the exchange of plant and animal species. The country is bordered by Costa Rica to the west, Colombia to the southeast, the Caribbean Sea to the north, and the Pacific Ocean to the south. Panama City, the capital, is home to nearly half of the country's population. Panama boasts an incredible biodiversity, with tropical rainforests covering much of its land. It is home to numerous bird species and diverse plant life, including orchids and ferns. The country is also known for its economic growth, driven by the Panama Canal, which is a key logistical hub. Panama has made significant strides in environmental conservation, becoming one of the world's first carbon-negative countries.
