Pelé, born Edson Arantes do Nascimento on October 23, 1940, in Três Corações, Brazil, is widely regarded as one of the greatest football players of all time. Pelé began his professional career at Santos FC in 1956 and quickly became a sensation, leading the team to numerous championships, including two Copa Libertadores and two Intercontinental Cups. He is Santos's all-time top scorer with 643 goals in 659 games. Pelé's international career was equally impressive, winning three FIFA World Cups with Brazil in 1958, 1962, and 1970.
