The Quran is the central religious text of Islam, considered by Muslims to be the literal word of God revealed to the Prophet Muhammad over a period of 23 years. It is composed of 114 chapters, known as surahs, which contain a total of 6,236 to 6,348 verses, depending on whether the introductory formula, the basmala, is counted. The Quran is written in Classical Arabic and is revered for its literary excellence, influencing the Arabic language significantly. It provides guidance on faith, law, and moral behavior, emphasizing the unity of God and the importance of righteous living. The Quran's themes include the oneness of God, worship, moral guidance, and the role of prophets. It also discusses creation, the afterlife, and social justice. Muslims believe the Quran complements earlier scriptures and serves as a guide for humanity until the Day of Judgment. Its revelation began around 610 CE and concluded in 632 CE, with its text remaining unchanged for over 1400 years. The Quran is not only a religious text but also a cultural and historical treasure, widely studied and memorized by Muslims worldwide.
