Rafael Cordeiro is a renowned Brazilian mixed martial arts coach and founder of Kings MMA in Huntington Beach, California. Born on June 1, 1973, in Curitiba, Brazil, he began his martial arts journey at the age of 13 with Muay Thai at the Chute Boxe Academy. Cordeiro earned a black belt in Muay Thai by the time he was 17 and went on to compete professionally in both Muay Thai and Vale Tudo. He became a three-time Brazilian Muay Thai champion and won the lightweight title at the International Vale Tudo Championship. Cordeiro transitioned to coaching after his fighting career, serving as a key figure at Chute Boxe Academy before opening Kings MMA in 2010. He is celebrated for developing the striking skills of fighters like Anderson Silva, Rafael dos Anjos, and Cris Cyborg. Cordeiro has been recognized as Coach of the Year in 2012 and 2016, reflecting his significant impact on the sport. His coaching style, influenced by his Muay Thai background, has contributed to the success of numerous world champions across major MMA organizations.
