RE100
ConceptAbout
RE100 is a global initiative led by The Climate Group and CDP, encouraging influential companies to commit to using 100% renewable electricity. Over 400 companies have joined, aiming to reach this goal by 2050. Members include major corporations like Facebook, Google, and Microsoft. The initiative promotes clean power, electric transport, and smarter energy use across more than 175 markets worldwide. Companies in RE100 use various strategies to achieve their targets, such as building new off-site generation facilities or signing Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) are crucial for documenting renewable energy consumption claims. RE100 has updated its criteria to ensure sustainability and transparency in renewable energy sourcing, reflecting the growing importance of corporate action in achieving a low-carbon economy.
