Roka (Hong Kong)
RestaurantAbout
Roka, located in Pacific Place, Hong Kong, is a vibrant modern Japanese restaurant known for its robata grill cuisine. The name "Roka" is derived from the Japanese words "ro" meaning hearth or gathering place, and "ka" signifying a burning fire, which reflects the restaurant's energetic and welcoming atmosphere. The interior, designed by Noriyoshi Muramatsu, incorporates elements of earth, fire, water, and air, using warm shades of orange and gold along with organic materials like wooden floors and a charcoal wall. The focal point is the large robata grill, where chefs prepare dishes while guests observe from the wooden counter. Roka offers an extensive menu featuring contemporary Japanese dishes, including seafood flown in from Japan, yakitori skewers, and prime cuts of aged beef. Signature items include lamb cutlets with hot pepper spices and black cod grilled with sweet miso paste. The restaurant also offers a variety of sashimi, sushi, salads, and tempura. Desserts, such as the jasmine sundae with yuzu granite, are a highlight. Roka provides a diverse selection of wines, sake, shochu, and unique non-alcoholic cleansers. Despite its closure, Roka was renowned for its high-quality food and efficient service, making it a popular choice for both locals and visitors.
