Ørsted is a Danish multinational energy company headquartered in Fredericia, Denmark. It is the largest energy company in Denmark and a global leader in offshore wind energy. Formerly known as DONG Energy, Ørsted transformed its business model to focus on renewable energy, particularly offshore wind, after divesting its oil and gas business in 2017. The company's strategic shift began in 2009 with a goal to generate 85% of its energy from renewables by 2040, which it achieved by 2019. Ørsted operates across Europe, North America, and the Asia-Pacific region. Ørsted develops, constructs, and operates renewable energy projects, including offshore and onshore wind farms, solar projects, and battery storage facilities. The company aims to install 20-22 GW of offshore wind capacity globally by 2030. Ørsted is recognized for its sustainability efforts, having significantly reduced its carbon footprint and coal consumption. It targets net-zero generation by 2025 and no carbon emissions by 2040.
