Ruanda, officially known as the Republic of Rwanda, is a landlocked country located in the Eastern Africa region. With a total area of approximately 26,338 square kilometers, it is one of the smallest countries in Africa. The country shares borders with the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west, Uganda to the north, Tanzania to the east, and Burundi to the south. Ruanda's terrain is characterized by volcanic mountains, hills, and valleys, with the highest point being Mount Sabyinyo, which stands at an elevation of 4,157 meters. The country's climate is generally temperate, with two main seasons: a dry season from June to September and a wet season from October to May. Ruanda is known for its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty. The country is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including the endangered mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, and chimpanzees. The country's capital and largest city is Kigali, which is known for its cleanliness and modern infrastructure. Ruanda has a population of approximately 12 million people, with over 80% of the population being ethnic Hutu and 19% being ethnic Tutsi. The official language is Kinyarwanda, but English and French are also widely spoken. The country has a relatively high literacy rate, with over 70% of the population able to read and write. Ruanda has made significant progress in recent years, with a growing economy and a focus on sustainable development.
