Shea Vineyard
VineyardAbout
Shea Vineyard is a renowned site in Oregon's Willamette Valley, particularly noted for its exceptional Pinot Noir. Established by Dick and Deirdre Shea in the late 1980s, the vineyard covers 290 acres, with 155 acres planted to vines. The majority, 149 acres, is dedicated to Pinot Noir, while the remainder is planted with Chardonnay. The vineyard's terroir features sedimentary soils over fractured sandstone, contributing to the distinctive character of its wines. Shea Vineyard is divided into three main sections: East Hill, West Hill, and Third Hill. East Hill is known for its natural acidity and balance, while West Hill produces wines with rich flavors and structure. Third Hill, added in 2013, offers a unique terroir with basalt rock influences. The vineyard uses sustainable farming practices certified by LIVE. Only 20% of the fruit is used by Shea Wine Cellars, with the rest sold to top winemakers in Oregon and California, highlighting its reputation as a premier source for high-quality Pinot Noir.
