About

Super Glue, also known as cyanoacrylate, was accidentally discovered during World War II by Dr. Harry Coover while attempting to create clear plastic gun sights for the military. Initially, the adhesive properties of cyanoacrylate were seen as a hindrance, and it was set aside. However, in 1951, Coover rediscovered the compound while researching heat-resistant polymers for jet canopies. This time, he recognized its potential as a powerful adhesive that required no heat or pressure to bond surfaces. Super Glue was first commercially available in 1958, initially marketed as "Eastman 910." It quickly gained popularity due to its strong bonding capabilities and ease of use. The glue's success extends beyond household repairs; it has applications in medicine, where it is used to close wounds, and in various industries such as dentistry and electronics. Its versatility and effectiveness have made Super Glue a ubiquitous tool worldwide.
