Taiwan - Double Valentine's Day
ConceptAbout
Taiwan celebrates two major Valentine's Days, blending traditional and modern customs. On February 14th, Valentine's Day is marked with Western-style celebrations, where men typically give gifts to women. This is followed by White Day on March 14th, where women reciprocate with gifts. The roles are reversed compared to Japan and South Korea, adding a unique twist to the tradition. The Qixi Festival, or Chinese Valentine's Day, occurs on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, usually in August. It commemorates the legend of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, with couples exchanging gifts and spending time together. Elaborate flower bouquets are a key part of these celebrations, often carrying specific messages of love and affection. Both days are celebrated with romantic dinners, outings, and heartfelt gestures, showcasing Taiwan's vibrant cultural landscape.
