Tesla Autopilot
TechnologyAbout
Tesla Autopilot is a semi-autonomous driving technology designed to enhance road safety and improve the driving experience. It is classified as a Level 2 autonomous system, meaning it requires active driver supervision. Autopilot features include Traffic-Aware Cruise Control, which adjusts speed to match traffic flow, and Autosteer, which helps steer the vehicle within clearly marked lanes. These features aim to reduce driver workload and fatigue during long trips. Tesla also offers Enhanced Autopilot and Full Self-Driving Capability (FSD) upgrades. Enhanced Autopilot includes features like Navigate on Autopilot for highway driving and Autopark for easier parking. FSD adds semi-autonomous navigation through traffic lights and stop signs. While Autopilot enhances safety and convenience, it is not fully autonomous and requires driver attention at all times. Tesla continuously updates Autopilot through over-the-air software updates, improving its capabilities over time.
