TGV POS
VehicleAbout
The TGV POS is a high-speed train developed by Alstom for the French national rail company, SNCF. It was designed to serve routes connecting Paris to Eastern France and Southern Germany, hence its name "Paris-Ostfrankreich-Süddeutschland" (Paris-Eastern France-Southern Germany). The train features two powered end cars and eight intermediate cars, with a total length of approximately 200 meters. It can accommodate 360 passengers and operates at a top speed of 320 km/h. The TGV POS is equipped with tri-current power cars, allowing it to operate under different electrical systems: 25 kV 50 Hz AC in France and Switzerland, and 15 kV 16.7 Hz AC in Germany. It utilizes asynchronous motors and advanced braking systems. Initially used on the LGV Est line, the TGV POS later shifted to domestic services and the TGV Lyria route between France and Switzerland. Its capabilities and versatility make it a significant part of Europe's high-speed rail network.
