Tossa de Mar Castle
Tossa de Mar Castle The Castle of Tossa de Mar, also known as Tossa Castle, is a historic fortress with origins dating back to the 12th century. Initially constructed to safeguard the town from pirate assaults, its strategic location on the highest point of Mt. Guardí provided a defensive advantage. The castle's existing structure largely reflects renovations from the late 14th century. Preserving its original layout, the castle features fortified stone walls, four turrets, and three cylindrical towers complete with parapets. Tossa de Mar itself boasts a rich history, including the 13th-century Vila Vella, the Roman villa Els Ametllers, La Roqueta, and Can Ganga.
