Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPcon) Technology

Technology

About

Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon) technology is an advanced solar cell architecture designed to enhance efficiency and performance in photovoltaic systems. It utilizes a thin tunnel oxide layer to passivate the contact between the front and rear layers of the cell, reducing charge carrier recombination and improving electron flow. This results in higher energy conversion efficiency compared to traditional solar cells. TOPCon technology combines the benefits of other cell architectures, such as PERC and heterojunction cells, while minimizing their drawbacks. It offers superior passivation, higher efficiency rates (over 22%), and excellent spectral response, making it suitable for various climates. TOPCon cells can be manufactured using existing PERC production lines, reducing costs and capital investment. This technology is becoming a standard in the solar industry due to its efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
