About

Voyager 1 is a historic space probe launched by NASA on September 5, 1977, as part of the Voyager program. It was designed to study the outer Solar System and beyond. Initially, its primary mission was to conduct flybys of Jupiter and Saturn, utilizing gravity assists to alter its trajectory. Voyager 1 successfully explored these planets, discovering new moons and rings, and providing detailed images of their moons. The spacecraft is powered by radioisotope thermoelectric generators (RTGs), which have enabled it to continue its mission far beyond its initial objectives. Voyager 1 entered interstellar space on August 25, 2012, becoming the first human-made object to do so. It has been collecting data on interstellar magnetic fields, particles, and plasma waves. The spacecraft carries a Golden Record, a message to any extraterrestrial life form it might encounter. Voyager 1 is now the most distant human-made object from Earth, continuing to expand our understanding of the heliosphere and interstellar space. Its mission is expected to continue until at least 2025, with potential for further extensions.
