Spacecraft

About

Voyager 2 is a historic spacecraft launched on August 20, 1977, as part of the Voyager program. It was designed to explore the outer planets of our solar system, utilizing a favorable planetary alignment to visit Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Voyager 2 is notable for being the only spacecraft to have visited Uranus and Neptune, providing invaluable insights into these distant ice giants. During its encounters, Voyager 2 discovered numerous moons and rings around both planets, revealing complex magnetic fields and atmospheric phenomena. Voyager 2's mission extended beyond its initial planetary flybys. After completing its primary objectives, it continued into interstellar space, crossing the heliopause on November 5, 2018. This phase marked a new era in space exploration, offering opportunities to study the interstellar medium and the outer boundaries of the solar system. Equipped with advanced instruments, Voyager 2 continues to transmit data back to Earth, contributing significantly to our understanding of the cosmos. Its journey has been a testament to human ingenuity and the potential for deep space exploration.
