About

The World Barista Championship (WBC) is an annual event that brings together the finest baristas from over 50 countries to showcase their skills, creativity, and passion for coffee. First held in Monte Carlo in 2000, the competition has grown significantly, now attracting global attention and setting high standards for the specialty coffee industry. The WBC is organized by World Coffee Events and supported by the Specialty Coffee Association, ensuring a platform for baristas to demonstrate their expertise in a series of intense rounds. Competitors must prepare and serve a total of 12 drinks in a 15-minute routine, including four espressos, four milk beverages, and four signature beverages. Judges evaluate each performance based on taste, cleanliness, technical skill, and presentation. The competition consists of three rounds: preliminary, semi-finals, and finals. The top six baristas from the semi-finals compete in the final round for the title of World Barista Champion. The WBC not only promotes excellence but also drives innovation, engaging a global audience and elevating the barista profession worldwide.
