Arabica

Coffee bean

About

Arabica coffee beans are renowned for their smooth, aromatic flavor profile, often highlighted by notes of fruit, floral hints, and caramel undertones. They are larger and oval-shaped compared to other varieties like Robusta, which are smaller and rounder. Arabica beans make up about 70% of the world's coffee production and are grown at higher altitudes, typically between 600 and 2,000 meters above sea level. This elevation contributes to their complex flavor and higher acidity, setting them apart from other coffee types. The unique taste of Arabica is also influenced by its composition, containing more sugars and oils than Robusta beans. This results in a sweeter and less bitter flavor, making Arabica a favorite among coffee connoisseurs. Arabica coffee trees take longer to mature, typically five to seven years, and are more susceptible to pests due to their lower caffeine content. Despite these challenges, Arabica's refined taste and aroma make it a staple in the coffee industry, with diverse varieties like Bourbon and Typica offering distinct flavor profiles based on their origin and growing conditions.
