Catherine the Great

Catalina la Grande, also known as Catherine the Great, was a remarkable leader who ruled the Russian Empire from 1762 to 1796. Born in Prussia, she rose to prominence through her marriage to Peter III, the Emperor of Russia. However, her husband's sudden death led to a power struggle, and she seized the opportunity to take the throne, declaring herself Empress. She patronized the arts, established the Hermitage Museum, and expanded the empire through strategic military campaigns and diplomatic alliances.
